I was psyched to purchase this assessment to figure out where my current baseline is relative to my goals, as well as relative to my previous climbing baselines a few years ago. The testing protocol was very thorough with 3 separate testing sessions (for the V7+ option at least). For how much you have-to write up on your training history, current and past, as well as your current goals for the near future, hangboard history etc, it does feel very all encompassing. Although, after doing all that, I was bummed that after all this, when I completed the testing to receive an email within minutes of submitting it with an automated analysis. It did a good job of putting your testing metrics into graph formatting but this only compares it to your CURRENT climbing grade, NOT your goals. I felt sort of empty handed on direction of training relative to my goals, it didn’t give me any like insight into where I am in relation to my goals. Perhaps I am using this tool in the wrong way to direct my training. I just thought it would based on the details in the description “We will then analyse your data and provide you with an in depth, feedback report highlighting your strengths and weaknesses relative to your ambitions.” When it should read, relative to your current climbing grades. Hope this helps anyone who is interested in purchasing this test for similar reasons.

Hi Aeron, I think this is a really good point and one that I’ve taken back to the team at Lattice immediately and we’ve rolled out a new release on how the assessment analysis works so now it will also include a “goal reference” as part of that package! It will now have a toggle where for the metrics which are most sensitive to small changes in grade (say 7a to 7b) then it will give you meaningful increments that you’re aiming for in terms of your training/metrics. This has all been built out internally now and we’re doing some in-house testing with it this week to double check all hits our standards and then roll it out in the next 2 weeks. Of course, we’ll drop you an email to let you know and this will also apply retroactively to your own assessment (including anyone who’s done an old assessment in the past will be able to see these new toggles). I hope that helps and also thanks SO much for the feedback. We really rely on you guys out there keeping us accountable to the best possible service we can be :-). Tom R
